About me!
Kat, the fearless leader of Kat’s Classroom, is originally from Tacoma, but she has lived in Missouri, Utah, and Hawaii. She considers Washington to be her home. Her and her husband have a blended family with 6 children ranging in age from 6 to 17. They live on a farm with pigs, chickens, dogs, and cats. Kat has her Associates Degree in Business Management and is currently studying to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education with a focus on special needs. Kat’s prior experience consists of being a director of multiple early learning centers and working for both Bethel and University Place school districts in their reading intervention and special needs programs. When Kat moved to Yelm, she was looking for care for her own children and it was quite difficult to find a program that was open during the pandemic and had availability. With her expertise in the field and her passion for early learning, Kat knew she would be able to create a quality program that the community needed. Much to her surprise, it grew very quickly! Kat uses her philosophies of these formative years for children in every aspect of the way she operates her school. She enjoys collaborating with parents and teachers to create a relationship of open communication that allows children to flourish in their own way. While Kat spends much of her time at the school, she does enjoy crafting and a great yard sale. She is a lover of the sun, a good laugh, and building others up.

Welcome to Kat's Classroom, where hands-on learning comes alive for children aged 2.5 to 6 years old! Our dedicated team of passionate teachers believes in introducing education in various engaging ways, allowing children to absorb information and grow. With our diverse approach encompassing pencil-to-paper worksheets, crafts, sensory bins, STEM projects, and playtime, we create an immersive and enjoyable learning experience.
Our Classes:
At Kat's Classroom, we offer age-specific classes designed to cater to the unique developmental needs of each child. From fostering social skills to nurturing academic abilities, our curriculum empowers children to excel. Our part-time and full-time programs provide flexibility for parents, with morning classes from 9am-12pm, afternoon classes from 1pm-4pm, and a full-day option from 9am-4pm for children who have outgrown naps. With a low student-to-teacher ratio of 8:1, your child will receive personalized attention, fostering their growth and confidence.
Our Facilities:
Kat's Classroom is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for your child's educational journey. Our locked-door facility ensures security, and we maintain a comprehensive camera system both inside and outside our premises. Our spacious 6,000 square feet building offers ample room for children to explore, play, and learn. Additionally, our indoor gross motor area allows for physical activity and fun, regardless of the weather.
Parent Communication:
At Kat's Classroom, we believe in fostering a strong partnership with parents. Through our exclusive HiMama app, you can stay connected with your child's daily activities. Receive photos and updates throughout the day, and conveniently communicate with our teachers about important information or schedule changes. We value open communication and strive to keep parents informed and involved.
Preparing for Success:
Our prekindergarten class is specifically designed to prepare your child for the transition to kindergarten. With additional teacher support, we focus on enhancing essential academic and social skills, ensuring your child feels confident and ready for a larger classroom environment. At Kat's Classroom, we are committed to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are prepared to take on the next chapter of their educational journey.
